Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm a complete beginner. Will I benefit from coaching or workshops?

A: Yes, absolutely! Our coaching sessions and themed workshops are predominantly aimed at beginner to intermediate level riders. Each session is carefully tailored to your riding ability, fitness levels and goals, ensuring that you get the most out of your sessions.

Q: I've been riding for years. Will I benefit from coaching or workshops?

A: Yes! Even very experienced riders can benefit from expert skills coaching. Sometimes, even very minor adjustments to body position, braking technique or working on increasing trail awareness can have a meaningful impact on confidence, safety and speed out on the trails.

Q: I want to learn how to jump and do drops, can you help?

A: Lets face it, jumping looks super cool and like lots of fun! But, the consequences can be high when jumps or drops go wrong. Jumps and drops falls outside of the scope of our current certification level. However, we are actively working towards being able to offer this service so watch this space! We would strongly encourage you to book a session to make sure that your foundation skills and techniques are solid before moving onto more advanced manoeuvres, such as jumps or drops. This is to ensure that you progress your riding as safely as possible.

Q: Where do the sessions take place?

A: Bloemendal Trail Park is our preferred coaching venue. If you would like to request a coaching session or workshop at a different venue, please call or WhatsApp Steve on 0719907480, or e-mail skillzpromtb@gmail.com before making your booking.

A: Any mountain bike in good working order!

You don't need to have the latest or top spec bike to enjoy mountain biking. However, please make sure that your bike is well maintained and in good working order before you come to your session. We always conduct safety checks prior to riding. If your bike is deemed unsafe by the coach, you will be offered another session at another date and time, but no refunds will given.

A: You MUST wear a helmet which fits correctly. If you do not have a properly fitting helmet, you will not be permitted to take part in the session. Other protective gear such as knee pads, elbow pads and riding glasses are recommended but, ultimately, at your discretion. Please make sure you are wearing closed shoes. Anyone wearing open toed shoes will not be permitted to participate.
